It’s been a year and a half since my daughter was born. During that time I have really slacked on self-care. I am trying to get back in the game. Not just so I look better, but so that I feel better too! So instead of a monthly books post, this month I am going to be talking about my ‘new’ skincare regimen.
I am saying it is new because it is new to me, but this skincare routine has actually been around for decades. It’s a 10-step Korean Skincare regimen. I discovered it reading my girl Chriselle Lim’s blog. I do this regiment in the evening. This routine is ideal for nighttime because your skin does the most self-renewing at night. Below are the steps I use (also hyperlinked the products I use for each step).
Step One: Oil Cleanser. I use Organic Coconut Oil for this
Step Two: Cleanser (a foam cleanser is ideal, but you can use any facial cleanser you have on hand)
Step Three: Exfoliator (I only do this step 1-2 times per week)
Step Four: Mask (If I don’t do step three I do either a clay or a moisturizing mask)
Step Five: Toner
Step Six: Essence (this is considered the most important step, but if I am honest the double cleansing is the true game changer for me)
Step Seven: Serum
Step Eight: Eye Cream
Step Nine: Face Cream
Step Ten: Face Oil
This routine has really changed my skin! I don’t usually believe the hype around ‘revolutionary new skincare breakthroughs’, but I always make an exception with beauty fads that come from Asia. This skincare routine delivers. Here are the questions I get the most:
Yo, how long does this ish take?!
Shockingly, not that long. The masking part takes the most time since you need to leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes. But I usually brush and floss my teeth while I mask. Also, don’t think of it as a time suck, think of it as a way to pamper yourself every day.
Is it expensive?
It depends. With the exception of the Essence, I already had all of the products required. If you don’t have everything, it can add up. However, there is no need to get super-fancy products. Drugstore products work great, too.
Will it make me break out?
No! My skin is very sensitive to anything new. I have a tendency to get little spots and dry patches when my skin is upset. But the only thing I have noticed is that my skin looks smoother, glowing, and healthier.
Okay, but seriously. I don’t have time for this.
You do, though. It is all about making time. This IS your face, after all. It’s a pretty important part of your body and you should invest time and energy into making it beautiful. I promise this routine will have your skin looking gorgeous.
